Kayvon Allen scored the winning penalty after heroics from goalkeeper Keegan Savige who saved three times in the shoot-out.

Head Coach, Danny Nicholls, was very proud of his young team. “The boys have done the academy proud tonight. Winning a men’s competition at the age of 16,17 is a remarkable achievement. We’ve had the most successful season by far for FootballCV with this win and three players joining pro clubs.”

Emmanuel Oyeleke, who is joining Brentford next season, scored from the spot in the 37th minute after Rikki Everett was brought down however Halesowen levelled right on the stroke of half-time.

The tie remained level after 90 minutes before Keegan Savige pulled off three great penalty saves. Successful penalties from Gareth Van Wyk, Jesse Nava and Kayvon Allen sealed the first trophy in FCV Reds short history.

Graham Starmer, Managing Director of FootballCV Academy, added “I’m delighted for the lads and this is a reward for all their hard work. A lot of credit must go to Danny Nicholls and his staff for making this happen”.

FCV Reds follow in the footsteps of previous winners Stoke City, Burton Albion, Rushden & Diamonds and Kettering Town.
